Most Anticipated VR Games from E3 2017

This year, several upcoming VR titles are slated to be released. Let’s take a look at them. Free Virtual Reality Games - Most Anticipated VR Games from E3 2017

Once again the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center which has become a yearly most anticipated event for both gamers and game makers alike for the last 22 years. Yep, that’s 1995 to 2017, and with the new developments in computer gaming technology, it looks like E3 is going to be the yearly mainstay that it is for more years to come.

Today, we are now in the Virtual Reality phase of gaming which by the industry’s current state looks like it’s moving from infancy to childhood as development in VR technology is being pushed forward and gaining momentum.

Though VR isn’t yet that accessible to the masses, it is heading in that direction as manufacturers and developers are being pressured by the huge gaming consumer market to make it so. Also, with the now available (though still costly) high-end VR headsets, namely the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and the Playstation VR which are currently settings the standard for VR Video games, the need to develop marketable content is on the rise.

So, without further adieu, let’s look at some of the most anticipated VR game titles which where presented last June 13-15 at the E3 show.

DOOM VFR

If you’ve played any Doom game before, you’ll have a pretty good idea with what to expect when you run Doom in VR. This means you’re going to encounter those mutated monstrosities up close and personal. Although VR is still somewhat clunky compared to playing via the usual onscreen mayhem, the experience still places you right there at the UMC base with all those nasty things waiting to pop up in front of you at every twist and turn.

Platform: HTC Vive and PSVR
Developer: Id Software

Fallout 4 VR

Bethesda Game Studios released the original FallOut 4 for the PC in 2015. Fallout 4 VR is the same game brought into Virtual Reality. For those who are familiar with Fallout 4 or have already been able to play it, the VR version simply places you on the other side of the screen where you get to experience the open world adventure firsthand. The game controls and user interface have been smoothly converted for the HTC Vive. For now there are still no plans to port it over to the other VR platforms.

Skyrim VR

The Elder Scrolls finally comes to VR where one can get to experience the massive Role Playing Adventure on a first hand basis with all the glory of combat. Fighting with swords, bows, shields, magic and other weaponry has never become as realistic as possible with the use of Sony’s Move Wands. Fans and gamers alike are clamoring for an HTC Vive and Oculus port as this is bound to happen in the near future. For now, those who have the PSVR are bound to enjoy it as the game runs smooth and with minimal issues.

Theseus

This VR title gives the experience of playing a game that somewhat looks like a combination of Shadow of Colossus and God of War. This time however, you get to play Theseus as he goes against the giant Minotaur hell-bent in destroying him. The game is a platform based combat action game in Virtual Reality where you will have to dodge, hit, run, jump and do the things that Kratos does but only this time, you’ll be the one being chased in the game.

Transference

A joint effort between Ubisoft and Elijah Wood’s film production company SpectreVision, Transference is a psychological thriller that combines gaming and film in a way reminiscent to the old FMV (full motion video) games. This time around, it’s VR gaming that will be mixed with real Hollywood acting. The game will focus on experiencing first hand the shattered minds of a family and discovering the answer to a mystery surrounding them as a way to be able to help them. The developers are pushing for a VR experience so intense that the player will still feel it long after taking off the headset.
